FAQs

What is GIS, and how do you use it?

GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a way of organizing and analyzing real-world information through the lens of location. My work focuses on taking complex, messy datasets and giving them structure, clarity, and meaning—often through spatial analysis, but always through thoughtful data modelling and visualization.

What kinds of projects do you specialize in?

I work on projects that sit at the intersection of data, place, and problem-solving. This includes wildfire burn severity mapping, crime and social-disorder analysis, land-cover and habitat modelling, transportation safety studies, and data cleaning/standardization workflows built with Python, SQL, and ArcGIS Pro.

What tools and technologies do you use?

I work with Python, SQL, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Power BI, and various data modelling and visualization tools. I’m comfortable building structured workflows, performing spatial and statistical analysis, and creating clear, user-friendly visual outputs.

Can you work with non-spatial data too?

Yes. Many of my projects involve standardizing, validating, and modelling non-spatial datasets before they ever enter a GIS environment. I regularly build Python- and SQL-based workflows for data cleaning, exploration, and transformation.

Do you offer freelance GIS or data analysis work?

I take on select freelance or contract projects that align with my skills and availability. If you’re working on a data-driven problem that needs clarity, structure, or spatial insight, feel free to reach out through my contact form.

Where are you located? Do you work remotely?

I’m based in Calgary, Alberta, and comfortable working locally or remotely. Much of my data modelling and GIS work is already done in remote or hybrid environments.
